Protection from Hurricanes
Homeowners concerned about the destructive impact
of hurricanes can now turn to the DuPont™ StormRoom™ with
KEVLAR® for home protection. Engineered
to withstand hurricane and tornado wind speeds of up to
250 miles per hour, the DuPont™ StormRoom™ helps
protect families from the windborne missiles extreme wind speeds
can create. KEVLAR® laminated sheathing is used inside
reinforced wall panels to help create a protective barrier
from airborne objects thrown about in a hurricane.
The StormRoom™ is securely anchored to
the concrete foundation to resist wind uplift, a major factor
in structural failures.
The DuPont™ StormRoom™ is available
in a number of pre-built configurations and can be added to
an existing home or incorporated into new home plans. The StormRoom™ is
installed by authorized installers.

From
the moment a tornado touches down,
the
storm's circulation begins to pick up and throw out all kinds
of debris. Many common items and building materials can become
dangerous flying missiles. A two-by-four building timber from
a damaged or destroyed structure, accelerated at more than
100 miles an hour, is one of the most common and deadly threats.

The DuPont™ StormRoom™ with Kevlar® looks like
a small room inside a house or garage. Both the inside and outside
of the storm shelter can be finished to match the walls of a
home. The room is ventilated, and electricity can be installed.
It is ideal for new home construction built on a concrete slab
foundation. Installed by an authorized installation professional,
the room can also be added to a new or existing garage with
a concrete slab floor. |
